Let us introduce you to our friendly veterinary team. Below are brief introductions about each of them that explains their qualifications and interests.
Sue Allen
B.V.M.S. MRCVS
Sue qualified as a vet from Glasgow in 1998 and since has worked in practices in both Lincolnshire and Yorkshire. She joined Elwood, Briggs & Turner in August 2011. Sue became a partner in the practice in September 2018 - now the practice is called Allen, Briggs and Turner!
She has a special interest in small animal medicine and geriatrics. She is kept busy at home with her two boys and three dogs called Kali, Rossi & Pepsi.
Maxine Briggs
M.A. Vet.M.B. MRCVS
Maxine qualified as a vet from Cambridge Veterinary School in 1993 and came to work as an assistant to Stephen Elwood the same year. In 2002 Maxine became a partner in the practice and over the years has seen the practice grow from three vets when she started to six vets plus as it is now. Her areas of interests include feline medicine and ophthalmology.
At home Maxine has 2 pet cats and has 7 semi-feral yard cats!
Nigel Turner
B.Vet.Med. MRCVS
Nigel qualified as a vet from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) London in 1992. He joined the practice in March 2001 and became a partner in the practice in 2011. Nigel is interested in all aspects of medicine and surgery.
Nigel has five Boxer dogs, a French Bulldog and a number of goldfish. In his spare time Nigel is a keen badminton player and skier.
Derrick Carpenter
M.A. Vet.M.B.
P.G.Cert.S.A.S. MRCVS
Derrick joined our team in July 2015. He started his veterinary career in 2001 and holds a Certificate in Small Animal Surgery (BSAVA PGCert SAS). Derrick has a particular interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery and takes on his own referral cases. Derrick now heads the Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue Surgery Referral Service.

At home Derrick enjoys running and reading and is also kept busy with his two young daughters. Derrick has two rescue cats, he is pictured here with one of them (Willow).
Marta Marcos
D.V.M MRCVS
Originally from Braganca in Portugal, Marta graduated from Vila Real Veterinary School in 2009.
Marta has been practising in the UK since April 2015 and joined our team in November 2016 after spending some time working in Portugal and Belgium.
She has a special interest in Internal Medicine and Imaging (X-rays and Ultrasound).
Before coming to the UK Marta dedicated some time to voluntary work teaching children horse-riding.
Her hobbies include travelling, walking her crazy rescue dog Helena and Portuguese food and wine.
Marta is also kept very busy at home nowadays with her young daughter.
Cristina Lopes
MRCVS
Cristina joined the vet team at Allen Briggs and Turner in September 2024.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and care.

Daniel Proctor
BVetMed MRCVS
Daniel joined our team at the end of September 2024.
We welcome him to the practice.
​
Daniel grew up in Lincoln and did his veterinary training at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in London. He qualified in 2024.
Daniel has an interest in exotic pets, surgery and dentistry.
​
Outside of work Daniel spends time reading, walking and enjoys table top role-playing games.
​
Daniel does not have any pets of his own (yet!) but is Uncle to a three legged nephew cat Kiwi who lost his leg after a road traffic accident.
Cristina joined our vet team in September 2024

We are looking for a vet to join us at ALLEN, BRIGGS AND TURNER to fill this position and help us continue to provide our 24 hour in-house emergency service alongside our other permanent vets.
Locum vets
We have our regular locum vet MIGUEL who helps us 2-3 days a week and does some of our Out of Hours on call work.
Miguel is very experienced in all aspects of small animal medicine and surgery.
He also does a lot of our ultrasound work.

In September -October 2024 we have also Lianne helping us. We hope you will enjoy meeting her if you need to visit us during this time.

Our capable support team is always there to offer guidance and support.
Margaret Royce
Margaret has now retired from her role of Practice Manager after a career of over 40 years.
We are forever grateful for Margaret's hard work and dedication to the practice and wish her a happy and healthy retirement.
She handed the reins over to Gillian McBride our Office and HR Manager in May 2024.
Gillian McBride
Office and HR Manager.
Gillian joined us May 2024, to take over the role of Office and HR Manager from Margaret.
We welcome Gillian to Allen Briggs and Turner.
Gillian has many years of experience in the role of Office and HR Manager and we look forward to working with her in the coming years.

Wendy Brooks
Wendy started working for us in April 1992 as a nursing assistant and is now our Dispensary Manager. Over the years she has seen many changes and the surgery develop from a two to a nine vet practice.
Wendy has a lovely Jack Russell cross rescue dog called Max.

In her free time, Wendy enjoys going to the theatre, and spending time with her family.
You can rely on our nursing staff to care for your pets as if they're their own. They will work hard to ensure that you and your furry friends receive the best possible care at our veterinary surgery.
Caroline Whatling
R.V.N.
Head Senior Nurse
Caroline started working at Allen, Briggs and Turner in November 1992 as a trainee nurse. She qualified as an RVN in 1998 and is now Head Senior Nurse. She has a keen interest in orthopaedics, particularly spinal surgeries and their post-operative care. Caroline has a Jack Russell Terrier called Mabel and two Dachshunds called Doris and Mildred.
Liz Farley
R.V.N. Dip CABT Clinical Manager
Liz started nursing at Allen, Briggs and Turner in September 1995. During her time with us, she has seen the surgery grow from a four vet practice to a nine vet practice. She holds a diploma in Animal Behaviour (Dip CABT) and is also an assessor for cats and dogs for Pets as Therapy. In her position of Clinical Manager Liz is responsible for the organisation of the nurses rotas, the day to day running of the practice and ordering drugs and equipment needed to keep our surgery running efficiently and smoothly.
Wendy Johnson
R.V.N Dip FN
Senior Nurse
Wendy started working at Allen, Briggs and Turner in 1999 and began her nurse training at The College of Animal Welfare in 2002. This led to her becoming a qualified RVN in 2006.
As a Senior Nurse, Wendy has a Diploma in Feline Nursing and is responsible for, and supervises the X-ray department this role is called RPS (radiation protection supervisor).
She also has a keen interest in diabetic patients and wound management cases. Wendy particularly enjoys running the nurse diabetes clinics and doing nurse clinics in general.
Della Melton R.V.N.
Clinical Manager
Della started working with us in 2001.
She was already a fully qualified R.V.N. when she joined us.
Della works alongside Liz as joint Clinical Manager and helps in the training of our student nurses. She also is the co-ordinator for our school work experience placements.
She also administrates our VIP practice health plan alongside her general nursing duties.
Della has dogs and a cat at home and also is a busy Mum.
Laura Whyte
R.V.N.
Laura has worked at our surgery since she started her nursing career in 2002. Laura qualified as an RVN in 2009. She has an interest in Nutrition and gained the qualification of Canine and Feline Veterinary Health Nutrition in 2017.

Laura takes care of ordering the orthopaedic surgery implants and equipment that Derrick uses for his orthopaedic surgery work.
​
She's also a mum of two young boys who keep her very busy.
Tammy Dent
V.N.
Tammy has worked with us since 2001 and qualified as an RVN in 2007.
Tammy started her nursing career back in 1988 and has a particular interest in microscopy. She is now our Reception based nurse, working as a team with the receptionists.
In her free time, she enjoys gardening and spending time with her family. Tammy is pictured with her Pugs, she also has a Japanese Chin called Kitty.
Frances Johnson
R.V.N.
Senior Nurse
Fran has been working at our surgery since 2004, already a fully qualified nurse when she joined our team. Fran has a special interest in Emergency and Critical Care nursing and enjoys her out of hours work (being on call with the duty vet).
Fran is one of our senior nurses. She is our in house laboratory manager and keeps all our lab machines running smoothly and orders all the necessary reagents that they require to enable us to get accurate and rapid results for your pet's blood tests.
Fran is a busy mum of two. She has 2 dogs at home and a rescue cat.
Sarah Roberts
R.V.N.
Sarah first started working as a nurse in 2003. Once she completed her qualification as RVN she joined our team in 2006. Sarah deals with all the pet insurance forms that come into the surgery.
Wound management and rabbit care are particular interests of Sarah's nursing work. In her own time she enjoys card making, crafts and her classic Mini Cooper!
She is pictured with Olive, her Boxer Crossbreed.
Rachel Lenton
R.V.N.
Rachel joined the practice in 2009, and later trained to be a veterinary nurse, qualifying in January 2015.
She is currently responsible for the maintenance of the dental room, organising the necessary servicing and ordering of the equipment. She is also the practice contact for the Pet Blood Bank and works with them to arrange donor sessions at our premises.
When not at work Rachel assists on the family farm, where she has her own flock of sheep, some of which are the Jacob breed. She is pictured here with one of her ewes called Freda
Rachel is a keen supporter of local and touring theatre productions and enjoys flower arranging, art, reading and classic films.
Kate Spreadbury
R.V.N.
Kate started nursing with us in 2010 and has a particular interest in wound management and enjoys studying feline behaviour. Kate helps Sarah with the insurance forms in-between her other nursing duties.
Kate has two cats and is pictured here with Callie who was found abandoned in a scrap yard at just one week old. Kate successfully hand-reared her and she now lives with Misty, her feline sister, who she adopted from local charity Lincs Ark.
Molly Everett
R.V.N.
Molly joined us in 2019, having been nursing for 3 years prior to this and studying for her degree in Veterinary Nursing. Molly has now graduated as a fully fledged R.V.N as of July 2019.

Molly enjoys meeting the clients and their pets when doing nurse clinics and she has a special interest in the emergency and critical care aspect of veterinary work.
Molly has a rescue dog called Hugo and two black rescue cats called Buddy and Jovi.
In her spare time she enjoys dog walking, baking and all things relating to Scotland.
Sharon Wiggs
R.V.N.
Sharon joined us in October 2021 and is a very experienced nurse with a passion for cats!
Sharon is very much involved with overseeing and coordinating the training of our student vet nurses.
She also deals with our Cats Protection voucher scheme administration.
Matthew Turner
R.V.N.
Matthew joined us in October 2017 after spending some time with us on work experience.
Matthew started his RVN training in 2019 and after many hurdles especially due to the COVID pandemic we are very pleased to say he successfully qualified as a fully fledged RVN in 2023.
Matthew enjoys all aspects of nursing and is a greatly respected member of our team.

Emma Wright
R.V.N
Emma joined us in November 2024 as a recently qualified RVN.
Emma enjoys all aspects of veterinary work and caring for your pets is her passion.

Jo-anne Hill
Jo-anne joined our team in 2005 having started her nursing career back in Newcastle in 1997. She has particular interests in exotic care, wildlife and welfare and also carries out a regular kennel round at Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary as well as volunteering with them.
She has a variety of pets, all are rescues, many with ailments and disabilities.
Tracy Overy
Tracy is our Kennel and Nursing Assistant who joined the team in October 2004. Among her many roles, she assists the nurses with the day to day running of the kennels and care of our inpatients.
Tracy owns a Labrador called Proby as well as 3 naughty cats. She also loves gardening and come spring is always bringing in plants that she's grown for the staff. Tracy is also an avid reader in her spare-time.
Christine Bateman
Christine started working at Allen, Briggs and Turner as our evening cleaner in 2016.
She has now (as of 2020) moved to a role working alongside Tracy and the Nurses looking after the animals in the kennels and helping prepare the surgical instruments for operating.
At home Christine has 3 Labradors and is a busy mum to 4 children.
Jessica Evans
Jess joined us in May 2021. Her role is as kennel and nursing assistant.
Jess comes to us with several years of valuable experience working with the Fen Bank Greyhound Sanctuary.
She is also always keen to learn new skills helping the vets and nurses.
She is pictured with her own dogs Brie and Finn.
Our capable support team is always there to offer guidance and support.
Toni New
Toni started working at our surgery in 2006. She mainly works in the dispensary preparing all the medications dispensed by the vets in the consulting rooms and for repeat prescriptions.
Toni has a variety of animals at home including horses!
Nicky Braddock
Nicky joined the team in 2016.
Nicky works on Reception and in Dispensary. She also puts together the Puppy and Kitten Packs and Client Welcome Packs.
In her spare time Nicky enjoys horse riding, gardening and walking her dogs.
Jo Douglas
Jo joined the reception team in Spring 2019. She brings a wealth of experience working in the veterinary sector.
Jo enjoys meeting our clients and their pets when they come into the surgery.
She now has taken over the responsibility of ordering for our retail area dog and cat treat and toy range. (Her own pets are very pleased about this as they get to try out any new items !)
Jo has always loved animals and is pictured with her own dogs.
Amanda Simmonds
Amanda joined us in September 2021 taking up her role in Dispensary and Reception.

Amanda particularly excels in her role in Dispensary as she has previously worked as a dispenser in a doctor's surgery.
​
She enjoys reading and spending time with her family including her lovely dog Nala (pictured).
Donna Peters
Donna joined us in May 2022 and is a welcoming friendly face on Reception and also Dispensary.
She loves to meet all our clients and their pets and make them feel at home.
​
Donna has 2 dogs (a Chug (Chihuahua cross pug) called Arnie and a pug called Minnie) and a cat called Alfie.
Donna loves spending time with her family, gardening, walking and most of all travelling.
Melanie Taylor
Melanie joined our reception team in 2022.
Mel enjoys meeting all our clients and their pets when they arrive to check in at Reception or go to Dispensary to collect medications.

Away from work Mel enjoys spending time with her family and her own dogs. She is also a proud grandparent which keeps her very busy.
Mel also enjoys music and eating out.
Terri Gorman
Terri joined our Reception and Dispensary team in December 2022.
She has experience of working in a veterinary "front of house" role for several years and is a welcome addition to our great Reception team.
Terri loves meeting and greeting all our clients and their pets when they visit us.
She has 5 dogs herself at home (2 of which are rescued).
Terri enjoys caring for her dogs and spending time with her family on her days off.

Maddy Pearson
Maddy joined us in 2023 and is becoming a great asset to our Reception team. She is also helping with the Puppy and Kitten packs and dealing with incoming emails and phone calls.
