Derrick Carpenter

Derrick graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2001. He has worked in small animal practices across the UK including Coventry and Lowestoft before joining our practice in 2015.

Since qualifying he has always had an interest in surgery, particularly orthopaedics. Derrick passed the BSAVA Post- Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery with Distinction in 2015 and is an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery. He joined our practice so that he could hone his skills in orthopaedics by working alongside Stephen Elwood.

On Stephen's retirement in 2020 Derrick took over as the head of surgical referrals.

His particular interest is fracture repair and trauma management.

Outside of work he is an avid runner and often competes in races such as marathons and half marathons.

How we work

At Allen, Briggs and Turner, our aim is to offer a quick and efficient service that is tailored to cater to the needs of you and your pet. Our clinic is ideally located with easy road access available from all directions. We believe that it is very important to keep your vet in the loop as he or she will be handling the aftercare.

Our findings will be reported to that person once we have dealt with the case. Our charges will be billed directly and you have the option of getting an estimate over the phone. Payments need to be made after each stage of the consultation. You have the option to pay by cash or card. In certain cases we may agree to direct payment from the insurance company and for that an initial £100 deposit is required, which will be refunded to you once the insurance company has paid the claim amount in full.

We accept soft tissue and pet orthopaedic referrals

Your veterinary surgeon can start the process by initiating contact with our team. We will then proceed to gather all the relevant details regarding your pet from the referring vet and can fix an appointment on your behalf or ask you to get in touch with us directly. A referral letter from the vet concerned explaining the case is needed along with a copy of relevant case history, plus any lab results and x-rays. Such information can be sent by email to info@allenbriggsandturnervets.co.uk.
